Forming simulation with LS-DYNA

Forming simulation with LS-DYNA

The aim of the "INTERREG ABS-Network" project is the development of a prototype for a thermally activated panel of a building envelope. In this panel, the solar energy is used energetically by the use of fluid channels. At the same time, the a room can either be cooled or heated by the panel. The virtual product development of the panel, in particular the inflation of the fluid channels in the aluminum outer walls, is ensured by an FEM simulation. Realistic inflation of the fluid channels is not a standard forming simulation process and is poorly mapped in commercial "special purpose" FEM reshaping programs. The commercial "General Purpose" FEM simulation program LS-DYNA is an open, versatile calculation program that can solve interdisciplinary problems. The idea is to combine program modules from the area of "passive safety", in particular the airbag simulation for the inflation of the cooling channels, with the classical forming technique. The aim of the seminar visit is to get to know the basic functions and options of the program LS-DYNA or to deepen them in order to be able to use them optimally for the upcoming work packages in the project. Side effect of the seminar is the making of contacts or the exchange of experiences with other users of the software. Here, our task was also discussed and two participants of the training have already had a similar application case. Another, deeper knowledge exchange will be sought with these individuals in the future.
